Why You Want a Board-Certified Ob/Gyn

Competence is a fundamental expectation for any activity related to your personal health or safety. It is currently possible to practice as an "obstetrician and gynecologist" without Board certification. Actually, after completion of formal training, it often takes two more years to complete the Board certification process. Thus, many young but capable physicians have not completed their certification. However, the certification process is voluntary and some "obstetricians and gynecologists" do not complete the certification process, either because of failing the examinations or simply because of not wanting to complete the examination process. Knowing the Board certification of your care provider assures you of their level of competence.
