Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery is the combined Ob/Gyn and Urology subspecialty that addresses the causes, prevention, cure and treatment of urogynecologic disorders and pelvic floor dysfunction. Subspecialty training in this area addresses complaints of both urinary and fecal incontinence that can be secondary to structural defects or neurophysiologic abnormalities. There are currently about 25 approved training programs in the subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
